The Fulbright School of Public Policy and Management (formerly the Fulbright Economics Teaching Program - FETP) was a partnership between the University of Economics, Ho Chi Minh City and the Harvard Kennedy School, USA. Founded in 1995, FETP played a unique role in the diplomatic relations between Vietnam and America. Initiated before the release of the American embargo and the normalization of diplomatic relations between both countries, the program was designed with the inspiration from the world-leading public policy and management program at Harvard Kennedy School, and the incorporation of the deep understanding of the local knowledge in Vietnam. In over twenty years (1995-2016), FETP helped to educate new generations of Vietnamese policy makers and public managers for the country that has been desperately in need of "trained talents" during international integration and transition to a market economy.

After two decades, FETP has emerged as one of the leading public policy institutions in the region. Playing as a bridge, FETP helped facilitate public policy dialogues between Harvard University and the Vietnamese government, and foster a transparent, constructive and conducive forum for public policy dialogues in Vietnam.

Rising from such invaluable foundation, in 2016, FETP was developed into the Fulbright School of Public Policy and Management (FSPPM), the first academic unit of the Fulbright University Vietnam - the first private non-profit university in Vietnam.

Outstanding academic quality and advanced governance practices help FSPPM charter its presence in network of global public policy schools. In July 2019, FSPPM becomes the first Southeast Asian institution to be accredited by NASPAA (Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs and Administrations), one year earlier than the due schedule. Recognition for high quality training from the most esteemed association in public service education is a significant milestone on our efforts towards regional and global standards.
