Fulbright School Alumni organizes homecoming event

On November 26, the Fulbright School Alumni (FSA) organized FSA Homecoming event as part of its efforts to strengthen the connection between the alumni and current students of Fulbright School of Public Policy and Management. FSA Homecoming is an annual event organized in November, in the spirit of Vietnamese Teachers’ Day (November 20), in which the Fulbright school’s alumni and current students gather to send their best wishes to lecturers, share their knowledge and work experiences.

Speaking on behalf of all FSA members, the FSA executive committee briefed the participants of main activities carried out by FSA this year, including the participation in Fulbright University Vietnam’s Giving Week 2022 to contribute money to support campus construction and social projects of Fulbright’s students, the Mekong Delta trip to meet with VCCI Can Tho officials prior to the launch of the Mekong Annual Economic Report 2022 co-organized by VCCI and FSPPM, the launch of a book by a FSPPM lecturer, and the talk show between FSPPM alumni and Fulbright University Vietnam’s undergraduate students.

The highlight of FSA’s activities in 2022 is the granting of new need-based financial aid packages granted to five Master of Public Policy Class of 2024’s admitted students who come from not-for-profit organizations, social organizations and enterprises.

The executive committee announced the FSA’s plans for the coming year. Aligning with the theme of this year’s FSA Homecoming event “Pay it Forward”, the FSA announced the plan to launch the FSA for Education Fund with the mission of building a philanthropist ecosystem of the Fulbright community to contribute to the development of education in Vietnam. The fund will operate on a trial basis in the first year by soliciting donations from the FSPPM network of alumni and current students before taking further steps in the coming years.

At the event, FSPPM alumni and current students listened to a presentation on Vietnam’s macroeconomic situation by Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thanh, Senior Lecturer of FSPPM, as well as the sharing of alumni from the public, private, FDI and NGO sectors on career development.
