December 05, 2022

On November 26-27, members of the Natural Capital Management (NCM) program at Fulbright School of Public Policy and Management (FSPPM), Fulbright University Vietnam organized a short course themed “Geospatial Technology in Feasibility Research of Renewable Energy in Vietnam” in Ninh Thuan Province. It was the second course in the NCM program; the first course was held in Can Tho City in August.

Participants of the course came from Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Binh Duong and other provinces. They are managers and officers from private and public organizations, faculty members and researchers from various universities in Vietnam.

Participants were provided with basic knowledge about remote sensing and the importance of remote sensing in assessing the potential for development of various forms of energy. In addition to theoretical sessions, they were instructed to use specialized software to assess the potential for renewable energy development based on different criteria.

The highlight of the course was a lecture by Dr. Lam Dao Nguyen – Director of Ho Chi Minh City Space Technology Application Center (STAC), Vietnam National Space Center (VNSC), Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST). The lecture focused on information related to satellites in Vietnam and some activities of VNSC.
