On October 29, the research team of Fulbright School of Public Policy and Management (FSPPM) presented their proposals for Hai Phong City’s economic development strategies towards 2030 in a meeting with the municipal Party’s Committee and representatives from local departments, agencies, and businesses.

The team members briefed attendants on the key findings of their study, which identified Hai Phong’s socio-economic achievements in the last 10 years and its improved status. The study put Hai Phong in comparison with the top 10 provinces and cities in Vietnam in terms of competitiveness.

The report pointed out the shortcomings of the city’s current growth model by using macroeconomic indicators and analyzing the effects of corridor municipality and strategic choice of Hai Phong. Using SWOT analysis, the report proposed development strategies for the city in the coming period.

The report reflected not only the team’s efforts but also the cooperation between FSPPM and local departments, agencies, and businesses.

The report is well received by local leaders. The city’s Party chief, the mayor, and deputy mayor, and representatives from local departments, economic zones, research institutions, and businesses actively contributed their feedbacks and opinions on the report. They encouraged the research team to finalize their study and propose specific solutions to Hai Phong’s current issues. The final version of the study is expected to be completed in December and submitted to city leaders for their approval.
