This seminar will encompass some of the challenges associated with forming and managing public-private partnerships. It is designed to enable each participant to appreciate appropriate elements of a tool kit, rather than a template, to create and sustain public value using a PPP structure. The seminar will also expose participants to a variety of successful and unsuccessful strategies, tactics, and skills that have been or are being used in partnerships, with an emphasis on risk management. The seminar will focus on water, with case studies used to illuminate the issues and to highlight negotiation and communication skills in partnership settings focused on water issues. Furthermore, it will focus on the facets of partnerships that influence their success or failure: strategy and mission, leadership, structure, authority, and resources.
